About 10 of us headed out from Swansea on a day trip I ran for the club. I had help from 2 other leaders, John and Matt, and I took some grade 2s thanks to Paul L lending his skills to the trip too.
It was a great day out and I think everyone got something out of it. Some of the grade 2s enjoyed a trip offshore in conditions and distances they probably haven’t done that often. The grade 3s enjoyed probing into the rockier areas. Shark Hole was a highlight as were the caves.
It was a 25km round trip and we had nice breaks on Spoon Rocks / Stinky Point and explored all of the caves, nooks and crannies along the way.
One of the highlights of this trip is the surfing at the end on the Swansea Bar. I still remember my first trip with Adrian and the surf was up. For both times, the waves have been nice modest sized rollers. At this size, they spill nicely in the bar which is deep and one can avoid the dangerous areas easily enough. The waves don’t build and dump like a big swell on a steeply shelving beach.
Paddlers included Paul L, Matt B, John P, Wendy S, Malcolm B, John A, Nick R, Andrew K, Peter L and Paul T
